Presented by GMG Productions in arrangement with Mischief Worldwide Ltd, the international smash hit turns every theatre company’s worst nightmare into an evening of brilliantly orchestrated chaos. What begins as a perfectly earnest attempt to stage a classic murder mystery quickly falls apart—with hilarious results.

When everything goes wrong

At the center of The Play That Goes Wrong is an amateur theatre company determined to put on its production despite seemingly everything working against them.

Props disappear. Lines are forgotten. Scenery collapses. Performers find themselves dealing with one increasingly ridiculous mishap after another. Yet, no matter how disastrous things become, they remain committed to one of theatre’s most enduring rules: the show must go on.

Of course, making a production look this spectacularly disastrous requires everything behind it to go exactly right.

The comedy relies on meticulously choreographed physical performances and impeccable timing, transforming apparent accidents into carefully constructed punchlines.

Every collapsing piece of scenery and theatrical mishap becomes part of an escalating chain reaction as the company desperately tries to make it to the final curtain.

A comedy that became a global phenomenon

Since its London premiere, The Play That Goes Wrong has grown into one of Mischief’s signature productions, entertaining millions of audience members across the West End, Broadway and more than 50 countries worldwide. Its success has helped establish Mischief as one of the most recognizable names in contemporary theatrical comedy.

Founded in 2008 by a group of LAMDA acting graduates, Mischief began as an improvised comedy group before expanding into original scripted and improvised productions for theatre and television. The Play That Goes Wrong has since become its longest-running and most internationally recognized hit.

The production recently celebrated more than 11 years in London’s West End, while Mischief has expanded its particular brand of carefully controlled catastrophe through productions including Peter Pan Goes Wrong, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery and Christmas Carol Goes Wrong.

Comedy that works whether you love theatre or are seeing your first play

Part of The Play That Goes Wrong's appeal is the simplicity of its premise.

You don't have to be a regular theatre-goer to understand the comedy of a performer forgetting a line or a set refusing to cooperate. But audiences familiar with what happens behind the curtain may find another layer of humor in watching virtually every possible theatrical nightmare happen in a single performance.

Carlos Candal, Founder and CEO of GMG Productions, recently watched the production in London with his children and described it as one of the funniest shows he has seen.

The Play That Goes Wrong arrives immediately after another international production in GMG Productions’ upcoming season at The Theatre at Solaire.

Cirque Alice, a contemporary circus reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, makes its Manila premiere from October 16 to 25, 2026, combining acrobatics, aerial performances, puppetry and theatrical storytelling.

The Play That Goes Wrong runs from November 6 to 22, 2026 at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort Entertainment City, Parañaque City.
