Rodolfo Gan’s ‘PRISM 4’ Opens at Finale Art File
September 10, 2026

Filipino artist Rodolfo Gan returns to Finale Art File with PRISM 4: Geometric Abstractions, a solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures on view from September 10 to October 3, 2026 in Makati.
The exhibition presents a new body of work that continues Gan’s exploration of geometric abstraction, particularly the relationship between flat surfaces and the illusion of three-dimensional space. Through combinations of line, plane, shape, and color, the works create forms that appear to recede, project forward, fold, and intersect.
Gan uses the airbrush to produce gradual shifts in color toward opacity or transparency, heightening the sense of depth within his compositions. According to the exhibition text, these gradations allow forms to appear confined within or emerging from imagined three-dimensional spaces.
Among the paintings included in the exhibition are Composition 144 – Together as One, Composition 151 – Inner Sanctum, Composition 152 – Mirror Image, Composition 153 – Woven Together, and Composition 154 – Where We Cross and Fold.
The exhibition also includes sculptural works made with materials such as copper, brass, stainless steel, and powder-coated metal. These include Geometric Interlinks, Geometric Reflections 1, Geometric Reflections 2, and Reflected Realities.
Born in 1949, Gan studied Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising, at the University of Santo Tomas and later taught there in the early 1970s. He began exhibiting at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Luz Gallery around 1970 and held his first solo exhibition at Luz Gallery in 1972. That same year, he was named one of the CCP Thirteen Artists.
After more than three decades focused on his printing business, Gan returned to painting in 2014 with an exhibition at Finale Art File.
PRISM 4: Geometric Abstractions — Paintings & Sculptures by Rodolfo Gan runs from September 10 to October 3, 2026 at Finale Art File, Warehouse 17, La Fuerza, 2241 Pasong Tamo, Makati City.
