Moonstar88 Invites Fans to Slow Down with Heartfelt New Single "Kape Tayo"

After more than two decades of creating songs that have become part of the Filipino soundtrack, OPM favorite Moonstar88 returns with a new single that celebrates one of life's simplest yet most meaningful rituals: sharing a cup of coffee.
Released across all major digital streaming platforms, "Kape Tayo" is the band's latest heartfelt offering—a gentle reminder to slow down, reconnect, and appreciate the conversations that often become life's most treasured memories.
Composed of Maysh Baay (vocals, guitars), Herbert Hernandez (guitars), and Bon Sundiang (drums), Moonstar88 has long been known for crafting songs that resonate through honest storytelling and memorable melodies. With "Kape Tayo," the trio continues that tradition, delivering a warm and reflective track inspired by the quiet moments shared over coffee.
For the band, the phrase "Kape tayo" has evolved into much more than an invitation for a drink. It has become a heartfelt way of saying, "I want to spend time with you." That sentiment forms the emotional core of the song, capturing the laughter, comfort, reflection, and healing that naturally unfold around a simple cup of coffee.

Musically, the track embraces a laid-back, comforting atmosphere that mirrors its message. During recording, vocalist Maysh Baay even performed several vocal takes while seated on the studio floor to preserve the intimate and relaxed feel the band envisioned. The arrangement is further enriched by lush live string sections arranged by Ria Osorio, while producer Rye Sarmiento of 6cyclemind and songwriter Darwin Hernandez helped shape the song's warm, reflective sound.
To celebrate the release, Moonstar88 took the experience beyond streaming platforms with the "Kape Tayo" Coffee Tour, an intimate series of acoustic performances in cafés across Metro Manila and Antipolo. Instead of traditional concert venues, the band chose coffee shops that embody the spirit of the song, creating spaces where music, coffee, and conversations naturally come together.
The tour will culminate with a special performance at the Manila Coffee Festival 2026 at SM Megamall on July 18, 2026 at 1:45PM.
