April 21, 2026 - Samalamig Cold Readings known for its community-led event for cold readings of fresh and WIP scripts returns for a special event before it resumes for its 3 rd season in a collaboration with SINE METU for a fundraising event to support their upcoming 2026 Cinemalaya film, a.ni.mál. 

The Samalamig Cold Readings x SINE METU event happens on April 22 (Wednesday), 8pm onwards at Vault Speakeasy Bar (inside Tittos Latin BBQ and Brew Greenhills).

This Samalamig session will feature a selection of new and existing scripts by Palanca winning playwright and the film’s scriptwriter and director Dustin Celestino including excerpts from “birdie” and “fidelity” as well as from the original a.ni.mál play from which the Cinemalaya movie is adapted from. 

The featured 2nd act play will be a revisit of “Role Play” which was performed during the first season of Samalamig. In the spirit of Samalamig Cold Readings, audience members will be given a chance to be readers of the featured scripts together with the event’s Guest Readers which are cast members of the movie: Maxine Ignacio, Anthony Falcon, and veteran theater actress Frances Makil-Ignacio who is currently headlining the twin bill production of Floy Quinto’s works, Miranda and Yolanda. 

Tickets are P800 for Early Bird (until April 21) or Regular/Walk-in rate of P1,000, with a complimentary drink.

All net proceeds from this event will go towards covering expenses for the production of the movie, a.ni.mál.

Started in 2024, Samalamig Cold Readings continues to build on its platform of discovering and exploring new stories and scripts made by aspiring, budding and professional playwrights and scriptwriters through cold reading. Veteran theater actor and social media influencer/educator Reb Atadero was announced to be the new Featured Reader for its 3rd season premiere happening on May 20, 2026.
