The new production will tour 12 schools from September to December 2026 and invites audiences to take part in shaping the story through votes and choices.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), in partnership with Move to Change Foundation, Inc., is set to bring “Gen G: GG na ’to!” to young audiences through a 12-school tour from September to December 2026. 

The new interactive play centers on choice, survival, community, and youth participation, with audience members taking an active role in determining how the story unfolds. Instead of simply watching from their seats, audiences will be asked to vote, make decisions, and negotiate as part of the theatrical experience.

Set in an alternate Philippines submerged in flood waters, Gen G: GG na ’to! follows a group of young people placed in “Balangay Gen Zones,” temporary communities where they are expected to stay safe while adults search for solutions elsewhere.

When the adults fail to return as expected, the young people are forced to run the Balangay themselves. Through the audience’s votes and choices, participants help decide what happens next and confront questions about whose voices are heard, who gets left behind, and what a community chooses to prioritize.

The production is part of Project GG: Game Changers for Good Governance, a youth-centered campaign that aims to turn civic education into participatory experiences and encourage young people to recognize the impact of their choices and involvement in their communities.

According to co-playwright and PETA Artistic Director J-mee Katanyag, the project began with the simple question, “G?”

“Every time we say yes to something, we are also making a choice,” Katanyag said, noting that these choices reveal what people value, whom they care about, and the kind of community they help create.

Gen G: GG na ’to! is directed by Ian Segarra, with Katanyag and Jhudiel Sosa as playwrights. The creative team also includes Kabaitan Bautista as musical director, Julio Garcia as set and props designer, and Johnnie Moran as costume designer.

The cast includes Lyle Viray as New Character, Johnrick Noynay as Dex, James Lanante as Sid, Camille Fabian as Chloe, Francheska Andaya as Achi, Cb Lagapa as Achi/Chloe, and Ada Tayao and Zoe Damag as Joker.

Project GG will also conduct interactive activities, workshops, and community conversations aimed at developing critical thinking, collaboration, and collective decision-making among young people.

From September to November 2026, the campaign will also roll out initiatives on Global Citizenship Education, narrative change, and youth participation, including Control + Shift Live! Narrative Change StudioLab and the Narrative Change Forum.
