MANILA, Philippines — Nearly a decade after releasing their last studio album, U2 has returned with new music. The legendary Irish rock band has unveiled "Street of Dreams," the lead single from its forthcoming studio album.

Released through Island Records, "Street of Dreams" is the band's first preview of a new full-length record since 2017. 

The yet-to-be-titled album is expected later this year and will be U2's first studio release in nine years.

Produced by longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee, the track carries the unmistakable sound that has defined U2 with Bono's vocals, The Edge's signature guitar work, Adam Clayton's bass lines, and Larry Mullen Jr.'s drums.

The release is accompanied by an official music video filmed in Mexico City during the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals. Despite difficult weather conditions during production, the video was completed with the support of local residents, adding another layer of authenticity to the visual companion for the single.

For Filipino fans, the arrival of new U2 music brings back memories of the band's long-awaited first Philippine concert in 2019. Their performance at the Philippine Arena during The Joshua Tree Tour drew thousands of fans.

This year also marks another milestone for U2. The band will celebrate its 50th anniversary this September, capping five decades that have seen them become one of the most influential rock acts in modern music. Since forming in Dublin in 1976, U2 has sold more than 175 million albums worldwide, won 22 Grammy Awards, and built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of live concert production while continually evolving its sound.

"Street of Dreams" is now available on major digital streaming platforms, while the official music video can be viewed through U2's official channels.
