Watch Fresh Filipino Stories Come Alive with Reb Atadero at Sine Pop Cubao this May

May 12, 2026

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Independent theater platform Samalamig Cold Readings officially returns for its third season on May 20, 2026 at Sine Pop in Cubao, continuing its mission of championing original Filipino stories and emerging playwrights.

The upcoming season premiere will feature guest reader Reb Atadero alongside a lineup of newly selected scripts chosen through an open call for submissions.

Three original stories were selected for the featured readings: Paboreal, a drama written by Matt Ordonez; Ang Trahedya ng Kamote, a mystery by M. Manalastas; and Planet Bang!, a dystopian sex comedy by Rhain Alcoriza.

Headlining the event’s featured 2nd Act play is Questions by Lia de Jesus, which previously won First Place for One Act Plays during the 41st Gawad Ustetika. De Jesus is no stranger to Samalamig audiences, having been featured in the program’s first season through her play Need.

Since its launch, Samalamig Cold Readings has positioned itself as a platform dedicated to nurturing Filipino storytelling by providing aspiring, emerging, and professional playwrights opportunities to develop scripts and connect directly with audiences.

Beyond staged readings, the initiative has also expanded through collaborations with artists and filmmakers. Earlier this year, Samalamig partnered with Palanca-winning playwright Dustin Celestino and his film production group Sine Metu for a special fundraising session supporting their upcoming 2026 Cinemalaya entry, a.ni.mál.

The Season 3 premiere promises another evening of experimental narratives, live readings, and community-driven storytelling that continues to spotlight the evolving landscape of Filipino theater and independent writing.

Early bird tickets for the May 20 event are currently available for PHP 800 until May 19 through Samalamig Cold Readings Ticket Link. Walk-in tickets at the venue will be priced at PHP 1,000.
