Dagitab (Sparks)

Scene Change proudly presents this theatrical adaptaion by Guelan Varela Luarca, based on the acclaimed Cinemalaya film by Giancarlo Abrahan.
Following its success as a 2014 Cinemalaya film, Dagitab makes its much-anticipated leap from screen to stage under the deft direction and adaptation of Guelan Varela Luarca.
Originally starring Eula Valdez, Nonie Buencamino, and Martin del Rosario, the award-winning film is reimagined for the theatre in this bold new production from Scene Change.
Leading the cast are Agot Isidro, Jojit Lorenzo with Elijah Canlas, Benedix Ramos, and Sam Samarita, who bring to life on stage this haunting, complex story of love and loss.
At the heart of Dagitab is Issey, a respected literature professor whose life unravels after she forms a complicated bond with Gab, a younger student. Maria Makiling
By Philippine Ballet Theatre
In line with its mission to promote Philippine heritage, literature, and oral tradition while advancing the art of ballet, the Philippine Ballet Theatre has created another original Filipino full-length ballet – Maria Makiling – that reimagines the legendary guardian of Mount Makiling.
Maria Makiling marks the third creative collaboration of PBT Artistic Director Ronilo Jaynario (choreography) and award-winning composer and arranger Paulo Zarate (original musical score).
The Filipino ballet production captures the essence of Filipino folklore and serves as a reminder to uphold good values through powerful choreography and captivating music.
Set in the scenic town of Laguna, Maria Makiling brings to life the cherished myth of a mountain goddess who protects the land and its people. During a harvest celebration, three men — an arrogant Spanish officer, a scholarly educator, and a kind-hearted farmer — compete for Maria Makiling’s affection. Her choice ignites a dark conspiracy, resulting in heartbreak and injustice.
In a poignant climax, nature itself mourns, and Maria Makiling withdraws from the world, choosing to protect it from afar. Though unseen, Maria Makiling’s spirit remains a living force in the land’s prosperity and the people’s hearts.

Ang Balyena

Aninag Theatre of Bachelor of Theater Arts’ Batch 122 of the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) will be kicking off their third production as a company with an original piece by Jay Crisostomo and directed by Joy Delos Santos.
In “Ang Balyena”, Jonah is a celebrated swimming coach—disciplined, demanding, and driven by results. Following his awarding ceremony, a small gathering between his father Manuel, best friend Ginebra, and ex-wife Cassandra, causes old tensions to bubble to the surface. What begins as a tribute to his success quickly unravels, as Jonah is forced to face long-suppressed truths about his methods, his past, and himself.
The play then dives backward to 2008, where we meet Jonah as a gifted varsity swimmer—favored by Coach Raymund and pushed to chase rising expectations. As admiration turns into pressure, Jonah’s pride and cruelty alienate those closest to him. ”Ang Balyena” ends where everything began: with a boy on the edge of becoming, finally facing the weight of what was done and what was lost.
