MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Theatre fans, rejoice — one of the world’s most celebrated musicals is finally coming to the Philippines. GMG Productions and David Ian for Crossroads Live and Work Light Productions proudly present the Olivier Award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar, opening at The Theatre at Solaire from May 2 to 24, 2026.

Following acclaimed and sold-out runs in London, North America, the UK, and Australia, the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production reimagines Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s groundbreaking rock opera for a new generation. Directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie, the production brings renewed visual energy and emotional power to the classic tale.

Described by The Guardian as “a gorgeous, thrilling, heavenly musical” and The Daily Telegraph as “an almighty revelation,” this Jesus Christ Superstar is a reawakening of the legendary 1970s work that forever changed musical theatre. The show’s rock-driven score—featuring the hits “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” and “Gethsemane”—captures the passion and tension surrounding the final days of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

Originally conceived as a concept album in 1970 before becoming a Broadway sensation in 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar continues to captivate audiences more than 50 years later. From its iconic West End and Broadway runs to recent revivals and tours, the production remains a defining cultural touchstone of rock and theatre history.
