July 5, 2025 - Be part of the barkada of Bagets The Musical. Auditions are now open for the upcoming stage adaptation of the hit 1984 coming-of-age Filipino film originally starred by  Raymond Lauchengco, Wiilliam Martinez, JC Bonnin, Herbert Bautista, Aga Muhlach. 

The iconic barkada from the 80s is making a comeback onstage with a fresh generation of young talented performers.

Auditions will be held on July 14 from 1PM to 6PM, and on July 15 from 1PM to 4PM at the PETA Theater Center Studios, Quezon City. 

Those interested must accomplish the official form on or before July 10 at Google Forms. They must also submit their latest CV, a head shot, and a full-body photo. 

Casting is open to males and females aged 15 to 50 years old who can sing, act, and dance.

Aspirants must prepare 16 bars of a pop ballad, 16 bars of an upbeat 1980s song, and a 16- bar dance routine. Principal roles include Tonton, Adie, Gilbert, Topee, and Arnel, along with ensemble parts portraying classmates, teachers, and family members.

THE BAGETS 

(preferably aged 16 – 22 years old)

TONTON (18, Male)

Daredevil. Reckless. Repeater. The barkada’s risk-taker who hides his pain behind his swag and learns the hard way that growing up means facing consequences.

TOPEE (15, Male)

Quiet but keeping it together. A martial arts kid who keeps things together on the outside, but carries heavy things he can’t always name.

ADIE (15, Male)

Charming and confused. The romantic with a camera who mixes up love, crushes, and connection—and slowly learns what real care looks like.

GILBERT (15, Male)

Funny and insecure. The class clown from a hardworking famil who tries to laugh off his problems but wants to be seen for more.

ARNEL (15, Male)

Polished but unsure. Raised in comfort but quietly dreaming of a different path, and must choose between following his heart or his ermat’s expectations.

ENSEMBLE CHARACTERS

IVY (30s-40s, Female)

Beautiful, warm and grounded. Adie’s older crush who sees him as sweet but not quite ready; shows him what real maturity looks like.

JANICE (16-18, Female)

Confident and real. A working-class girl who dances like she owns the floor; helps Arnel see the world beyond his bubble.

ROSE (16-18, Female)

No-nonsense and kind. Tonton’s wake-up call—she sees through him, but still believes in who he could be.

MELISSA (15-16, Female)

Simple and sharp, Gilbert’s smart seatmate who doesn’t know she’s the reason he’s trying to be brave.

TITA NENA (40s-50s, Female) 

Cheerful and steady, Topee’s no-drama aunt/yaya who does the real parenting while Ana’s off chasing her spotlight.

ENSEMBLE

Barkada, Teachers, Tita Nena, Sauna Girls, Circumcision Nurse, Doctor, Principal, etc.

They form the social world around the Bagets, each adding pressure, contradiction, or comic relief in their journey toward manhood.

Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts. 

Rehearsals will take place from November 2025 to January 2026, with performances every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
