GABBA, RELEASES HIS FIRST COLLABORATIVE OFFERING, “FALL”

Filipino multi-instrumentalist, Gabba, who was recently named Guitarist of the Year at The New Hue’s Video Music Awards, treads uncharted territory with the release of his first collaborative offering, “fall.”

Together with Singaporean artist, Alicia DC, the math-rock track tells the story of a lovers’ quarrel through vulnerable lyrics and dynamic shifts in its instrumentation.

About Gabba

Known for expressive compositions that delve into his experiences and innermost thoughts through wordless narratives, Gabba embarked on his solo journey in 2020 and has since released several singles and a full-length album, which he has performed on international stages such as Wanderland (PH), Music Day Out (SG), and SXSW Sydney.

With his signature brisk guitar and intricate drumming enriched with ambient textures and introspection, Gabba utilizes music as a means to connect and grow with collaborators and listeners around the world.

Get to know Alicia DC

Alicia Diva Chandra, aka Alicia DC is a singer-songwriter and producer based in Singapore. Her music treads a thin line between a conventional pop music sound and blunt, authentic lyrics.

From her debut EP "Maybe" (2022) to her most recent single “Circles” (2024), Alicia has displayed her versatility and range as a producer, from acoustic ballads to trap pop.

With what began as Alicia DC’s effort to collaborate with artists outside of Singapore, “fall” brings two creative minds across seas together to create a three-minute track, co-produced by Francis Lorenzo, that runs through the motions of vulnerability and understanding.

“Alicia and her team reached out about a potential collab, which was really exciting,” Gabba says, sharing how his music aligned with the direction Alicia DC wanted to explore as an artist. He recounts, “She sent over a handful of demos, and honestly, it was tough choosing one because they were all really good. But ‘fall’ stood out to me the most. It had this mood and structure that felt like the perfect space for both our styles to blend, and I’m really glad we went with it. It was a great starting point for everything that followed.”

Lyrically, Alicia DC shares the message she hopes listeners take away from the track, saying, “You shouldn’t have to break down the door to your own house. If the door stays locked regardless of what keys you use, the house isn’t yours!”

While the songwriting process was the same for Alicia DC, it was the production of “fall” that brought the artist toward another direction. “Finding a good balance between both our sounds was important, so that in the song it wouldn’t sound like one of us is overpowering the other in the song. It doesn’t sound like just Alicia’s song or just Gabba’s song, it very clearly sounds like an equal collaboration.”

“I really enjoyed seeing music from Alicia’s perspective,” Gabba reflects. “Her approach and creative instincts are so different from mine, and it really opened my eyes to the fact that there are so many different ways to do things and they can all lead to great results.”

Speaking about working with other artists on music and future releases, Gabba is keen to further explore the horizon. He says, “That’s definitely something I look forward to doing. Collaborating with Alicia on ‘Fall’ was such a refreshing and eye-opening experience. I’d love to keep exploring that, working with other musicians I admire and getting the chance to pick their brains and create something together.”

Gabba and Alicia DC made the live debut of “fall” at the inaugural edition of Spur Labs in Manila last August 2, 2025.
